Zingology are revolutionising healthy eating with their fruit and vegetable powders that retain all the goodness of the original item, making it easier and ever to get your five-a-day - just add the powder to soups, smoothies, or even use it to flavour icing and sweet treats. Ground to floor 1 – Explain what your business does
Zingology sells fruit and vegetable powders that contain the goodness of the original fruit or vegetable, meaning you don't lose any of the nutrition and making it easier to get your five-a-day. You can put the powders in just about anything! Unlike freeze-drying, our patented method keeps all the goodness in.
Floor 1 to 2 - Where are you based?
We are based near Tunbridge Wells in Kent.
Floor 2 to 3 – What’s the business model?
We import organic, whole fruit and vegetable powders from the US, repackaging and selling to retailers and distributors.
Floor 3 to 4 – Who are your competitors?
Suppliers of freeze dried products, such as the Matt Dawson range, Bioglan, and Spice Mountain.
Floor 4 to 5 – What’s your USP?
We use patented gentle technology which retains all the nutrients and enzymes.
Floor 5 to 6 – Where did the idea come from?
I worked for a nutritionist and we were regularly asked for whole fruit and vegetable supplements. I researched the product and suggested the company I worked for expand their product range, but they didn't want to - so I did it myself!
Floor 6 to 7 – How much funding did you receive from Virgin StartUp?
Floor 7 to 8 – How are you going to use it to grow your business?
We are using it to develop single portion tubes which will retail at £2.95, so it will be much more affordable for people to try.
Floor 8 to 9 – What’s your workspace like?
I've converted a bedroom into my workspace and am just about to convert my garage into the product filling room – if it was good enough for Steve Jobs, it's good enough for me!
Floor 10 to 11 – where will your business be in 12 month’s time?
We are currently in Ocado and Tesco Extra, and in 12 months we want to be mainstream in Sainsburys home baking aisles.
