How to Lead your Start-up with Purpose

For 50 years, Virgin has been starting businesses with a common purpose; to change business for good. We want to share our decades of experience with the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Building a brand with a strong purpose will separate yourself from your competitors and create a lasting relationship with your customers.

Whether offering a buy-one-give-one model like Tom’s shoes, to having a zero-waste supply chain or providing equal opportunities, embedding a purpose and meaning into your business can help you provide a better service to your staff and more commitment from your staff.

Join us at our MeetUp on How to Lead Your Start-Up With Purpose to hear from speakers who are running businesses that also benefit the world around them. They'll be revealing how they came up with their idea, how they aligned it with a cause and how they market this to their customers.

You'll also get to network and meet other people on a mission to launch a business that does well by doing good. You’ll also get the chance to meet some of the Virgin StartUp team and talk about how we can support your start-up.

Loral and Eishel Quinn are mother and daughter co-founders of Sustainably, a fintech for social good platform that makes doing good frictionless for consumers and brands as part of everyday life. Loral was head of digital strategy and marketing for a FTSE100 investment company, where she set up the global digital team and helped scale the business from 6 to 30 countries in 10 years. Eishel created the Sustainably brand and the UX for the product, and has a background in ethical and organic retail, most recently working with Neal’s Yard remedies.

Celia Hodson, Hey Girls

Celia believes that we need to seek sustainable ways to address Period Poverty in the UK that are not reliant on the government. She and her daughters set up Hey Girls CIC - a Buy One Give One Sanitary Pad social enterprise - with the aim of providing an alternative shopping experience for those wishing to make a difference with the items they purchase for themselves, knowing that their actions have made a difference to a girl or young woman in the UK.

Having only started trading in January 2018 Celia has already smashed some pretty huge milestone; Hey Girls was voted as Virgin Start Up Scotland Winner, selected as one to the First Ministers High Growth Potential Enterprises, gained listing in Asda and Waitrose and most importantly Hey Girls has donated over 420,000 period products across the UK
