Think of the brands and products you love. Now think of the story behind them. Steve Jobs unveiling the iPhone, Airbnb’s sofa-surfing founders, Emily Weiss turning a blog into a multi-billion dollar idea, or even the 16-year-old Richard Branson launching Student magazine. Our favourite brands mean something to us because we have shared a narrative with them - we’ve joined their journey and have invited them to be part of ours.
Why is it that we connect with stories? How can we, as founders, tell ours through our brands and help build an engaged customer base?
The human brain is wired to respond to well-crafted narrative - neuroscience proves storytelling is the best way to capture people’s attention, instil memories and create close, personal bonds. Your audience is programmed to crave and seek out great stories - and at Virgin StartUp, we want to show you how to tell them.
In 2020, customers are challenging brands to have conversations they’ve never had before, and with the rise of social media, brands are exposed to their audiences in revealing form. As a founder, your story is unique, and by telling it through your brand, you have what everyone strives for but which corporates often miss: authenticity.
At our next MeetUp, we’re going to tell the story of narrative in business. We’ll look at the most compelling businesses and what makes their brand stories so irresistible, and find out why putting founding stories at the heart of our startups gives us an edge over bigger competition. And, crucially, how your story can cut through the noise and reach a new audience.
After a short introduction from our Managing Director, the evening kicks off with a panel discussion hosted by Ben Keene. This will be followed by break-out sessions, where you can delve deeper into marketing and branding, as well as all things Virgin StartUp.
Our panel discussion will feature Pinterest's Global Creative Director, James Hurst, Alice Rhodes, co-founder of gender-neutral make-up brand, Depixym, and Corrie Jones, founder of Untapped Digital.
Our MeetUps are designed for digital and free to attend. Tickets are limited so sign up today.
