Every business who receives a Start Up Loan from us is also matched with a dedicated mentor for 6 months to provide relevant advice and support.

We are big believers in the power of mentoring to help guide entrepreneurs – it allows them to sound out ideas, avoid the big mistakes, and makes that startup journey easier.

At the Fast Track 100 2017 event the UK’s fastest-growing businesses came together, and we secured exclusive mentoring sessions with entrepreneurs such as the CEO of Tangle Teezer for twenty of our funded businesses. Watch the video below to see some shots from the day, and to find out how the Virgin StartUp mentoring programme has helped businesses supported by us grow.

Cemal Ezel, Change Please

Change Please is a business selling delicious coffee from vans around London, with a social element – the baristas are homeless and being supported  back into employment with training and jobs. Cemal received a £25,000 Start Up Loan from Virgin StartUp.

“It was evident as soon as I looked into Virgin that they offered excellent mentors,” says Cemal. “Being part of an organisation that has such a fantastic brand within the UK and internationally made it a no-brainer for us - it’s really dramatically helped us grow.”

Gini and Eccie Newton, Karma Cans

Karma Cans is a business delivering fresh and delicious meals to offices over London. Gini and Eccie each received a £25,000 Start Up Loan from Virgin StartUp.

“Our mentor is so supportive,” say Gini and Eccie Newton of Karma Cans. “We would definitely recommend VSU to a friend. The mentoring support, as well as the finance, has helped us grow. We don’t know if we would be here without it.”

Elsie Rutterford and Dominika Minarovic, Clean Beauty Co.

Clean Beauty Co. is a business based around clean and natural beauty – they have a blog, a book, and a new range of beauty products. Elsie and Dominika each received a £25,000 Start Up Loan from Virgin StartUp.

“Mentoring is a good way to get impartial advice, as sometimes when you’re wrapped up in your business you can’t see things yourself,” say Elsie Rutterford and Dominika Minarovic of Clean Beauty Co. “It’s a really valuable part of your business, especially if you’re starting out.”
