Their world-first artificial reef solution provides a marine habitat for creatures of the sea who have seen their habitats damaged, can protect coastlines and marine structures against erosion, and can also protect against depth trawling.
The first reef will be built at Vobster Quay, which hosts a regeneration program for the UK’s indigenous white-clawed freshwater crayfish population. Due to habitat destruction and the introduction of rival species, it is globally endangered. Building the reef will help the regeneration project, as well as providing a home for other species.
