Global Entrepreneurship Week: hosts and theme
We’re thrilled to announce that Youth Business International is joining forces with Startup Direct, UnLtd and Virgin StartUp to host Global Entrepreneurship Week 2015 - a week celebrating all that's brilliant about entrepreneurs.
Along with Startup Direct and UnLtd, Virgin StartUp is a member of YBI’s global network of initiatives providing support to young entrepreneurs, and we have come together to see how we can use Global Entrepreneurship Week as a platform to encourage the next generation to start up their own business.
For the fourth year running, we’re also delighted to have Barclays backing the campaign as part of their commitment to enhance the enterprise, employability and financial skills of Five Million Young Futures by the end of 2015.
Each year, Global Entrepreneurship Week plays a vital role in providing inspiration and practical support to thousands of aspiring and early stage entrepreneurs.
And the theme for this year is... drum roll please...
Make it happen
Ever had an idea which you think could make life better? Ever thought you could be your own boss? This Global Entrepreneurship Week, we’re encouraging you to seize the opportunity and make it happen.
We’d like participants to just do one thing to become more entrepreneurial, whether it’s getting feedback on your business idea at a networking event, signing up for a training course to give you the skills you need or finding a mentor who can give you guidance.
If there’s ever a time to make it happen, it’s during Global Entrepreneurship Week!
Youth Business International is also today releasing their evaluation from the 2014 campaign, which shows that:
- Over 340,000 people attended nearly 2,500 events up and down the country.
- 67% attendees said that they had learnt more about entrepreneurship.
- 53% said that they had learnt about global opportunities.
- 74% agreed that they were now more likely to start up a business.
Will Crosthwait is the co-founder of online video-casting business Auditionist, and started up his business with the help of a Virgin StartUp loan. He says:
“I attended Global Entrepreneurship Week 2014 and I managed to introduce my business, Auditionist to a great new audience and we made some lasting connections. We can’t wait for the unique opportunity to network and share ideas at Global Entrepreneurship Week 2015.”
Stay tuned - we can't wait to see what will be in store!
