StartUp lessons from #VSULive in Portsmouth

Our latest #VSULive took us to the charming seaside city of Portsmouth! In a venue packed-out with enthusiastic entrepreneurs it was great, as always, to get face to face with businesses from different parts of Britain – proving (as if there was any doubt) that the UK startup scene is one of the most exciting in the world.

This week our lineup of speakers was made up of Ben Keene of Tribewanted, Stephen Greene of Ed’s Easy Diner, Andy Pringle of Enterprise First,  VSU mentor Gavin Barratt and Andy Fishburn of Virgin Startup. And to join them were Virgin StartUp businesses Lily Rice of Lexie Sport (our first ever loan recipient!) and Louise and Peter Axby-Hirst of Axby & Hirst (and their three children, who also work in the family business).

It was wonderful to hear about how our businesses have progressed since receiving the loans, and inspiring to meet so many other enthusiastic entrepreneurs – there wasn’t an empty seat in the house. Thanks too to the Aspex gallery for providing such a beautiful space for the event.

Our next #VSULive events – the final two! – will be taking place in Sheffield and Liverpool. Grab tickets quick, and join us for a night of inspiration, canapes, and learning about what Virgin StartUp can offer you.
