Our last meetup in Bournemouth, held at the Jimmy’s Iced Coffee HQ, was a roaring success. Now Virgin StartUp are holding another meetup on the subject of finding those all-important first customers.

At Virgin StartUp we are big believers in the power of face-to-face interaction. Our meetups help to facilitate connections, ideas and inspiration, and we’re excited to be holding more outside of London with the help of our trusty Virgin StartUp business advisors, ambassadors and partners. So, what’s this one all about?

Your business is raring to go. Your website’s looking snazzy. You’ve had people expressing interest. But how do you get people to part with their cash? Finding those first customers can feel like the most daunting parts of running a startup. But help is at hand.

At this event entrepreneurs who’ve been there and done this already will share their knowledge with you, and you’ll also get to meet and network with other local business owners in the surrounds of the Hilton Bournemouth over a glass of prosecco and canapes. You’ll be able to ask questions about customer acquisition, about making those first sales, and about how to keep those customers coming back.

The speakers are:

Olly Whittle - Co-Founder of Bournemouth-based startup, Budipay. Budipay started out as an app developed for a stag weekend; now it provides people in developing countries such as India the means to collect money and pay for everyday essential items. Olly developed his product with the support of Virgin StartUp.

Mitchell Stuart - MD of Inferno Media. Inferno is a social media marketing company with offices in Bournemouth & London. Experts in social media management and campaign marketing, Mitchell is ideally placed to tell you how to find your first 1,000 customers via social media.

Thomas James - founder of LearnCreatePlay. LearnCreatePlay is a Bournemouth-based company providing tuition in schools and homes throughout the UK. Thomas will tell us how he built his business from a handful of local schools to one that now covers the entire UK.
