Explain your business in thirty seconds or less
We are a high-energy children’s entertainment company, specialising in parties for 4 – 7 year olds mainly, but we can cater for other ages. Our parties are themed around vibrant characters and exciting party games that offer children a magical experience. Our entertainers are self-employed, and this gives me flexibility depending on the demands of the business. I offer a very hands-on and bespoke party experience. My aim is for children to be entertained, to be involved, and to have fun!
Where are you based and why is it a good location for your business?
We are based in Sussex, which has proved to be a good captive market for engaging with families, and we also travel based on demand.
How did you come up with the idea?
I come from an acting background, and identified a gap in the market. I wanted to deliver an interactive and complete experience for children that could be tailored and themed to their interests.
What stage was your business at when you applied for the Start Up Loan?
I had been working for about a year, using my savings to set up the business.
How have you used it to grow your business?
I needed to do more marketing to increase my bookings. This in turn has meant I can now take on more staff to train up as entertainers. I also want to look at doing parties for children with special needs, and workshops during summer holidays.
Who has helped you on your business journey?
My Virgin StartUp mentor is a Head of Marketing in the hospitality industry - I’m looking forward to working with them.
Enterprise First is my Delivery Partner, and Sue Davitt was my business adviser. She offered great support and assistance throughout the process. I had lots of questions and she was always happy to answer them!
Biggest achievement so far?
The positive feedback is really rewarding. I started out with a laptop and a printer, and I now have eight entertainers and a part-time administrator. I’m really proud of what I have achieved!
What’s next for your business?
I want to expand and grow into other areas but organically, rather than through a franchise.
