1. Explain your business in thirty seconds or less.
Do you dread feeding your child in the pram? Most of the time it's unavoidable, and we have to give in and give our child a snack when out and about. We designed Prambibs as way to make feeding away from home stress and mess free. No more washing the pram seat unit in the bath! No more hoovering the seat unit! Don’t get me started on greasy hand prints!
Prambibs are designed to keep your child clean, and your pram, too. Made from a mix of cotton and elastane, and designed with long sleeves and elasticated cuffs, the Prambib covers your little one, stretching over the pushchair to stop any food getting into the nooks and crannies. No more food stained prams!
2. Where are you based and why is it a good location for your business?
I am based in Scarborough, where I live and raise my family of Scarborough is a beautiful place to live and work, with the beach and the country I couldn’t think of a better place to be. My business is an online business so I take orders online and post these nationally. You are able to purchase these on our web page www.prambibs.co.uk
3. How did you come up with the idea?
I have been thinking about creating this product for years. I have 3 girls, and no matter how hard I tried there was always a time that I would have to feed them in the pram. I HATE mess and crumbs.... Now, anyone who knows me knows just how much I hate mess (obsessed with Dettol “other brands available”) and don’t get me started on stains!
So, My husband and I created this product as a way of keeping my pram (Nellies pram😬) pristine and not having to worry about having baby facilities whilst being out and about. It’s taken us years as a busy family with 3 girls to create, design and perfect my idea. So let me take the stress and mess of feeding your little cherub away anyway!! Keep your pram clean!!!
4. What stage was your business at when you applied for the Start Up Loan?
We had developed a prototype using a local seamstress, had testing of the material done, tried this among family and friends – who all loved it and most importantly we had a patent pending! So the next step was to make this prototype into a product to sell.
5. How have you used it to grow your business?
We used the Virgin Start Up Loan for lots of things including the registering the design and trademarking. We then purchased all the different elements of the bibs, sourced a large scale manufacturer and had some made. We developed a website and started to build a following using social media.
6. Biggest achievement so far?
We attended the Harrogate International Nursery Fair in April 2018 to help raise our profile as a new brand, off the back of this we have been nominated for 2 awards, Mumii Best Baby and Toddler Gear 2018 award for Pushchair Accessory and BANTA 2018
